Gratitude & Giving

Gratitude. It’s something that gets all the hype during Thanksgiving while giving gets all the attention during the Christmas season.

Thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday and I love Christmas too! However, I wish that gratitude and giving were not just seasonal. I believe they should be year around themes.

I practice daily gratitude. Some days it is easier than others but nevertheless, I do it. It’s really a simple task when you think about the little things in life. A lot of times I am thankful for loved ones or even just the first blade of green grass in the spring or the beauty of glistening snow despite the cold.

Giving is personal to everyone. For me giving involves giving time more than gifts. I volunteer my time to the North Dakota Junior Red Angus Association as an advisor, my local FFA & 4-H chapters when the county fair rolls around, as well as other miscellaneous events in college and my local community.

Gratitude and giving make me feel good about myself and society. The world feels like a mess but the reality is that there are still lots of good people and organizations to be thankful for and give back to.

Share with me in the comments these 2 simple things.

  1. What are you grateful for?

  2. What organization do you give back to?
