The Future of Water Tanks
Seth Daup and Brooke Bode are a dynamic duo in the technology space of the beef industry. These two college students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are eager to make a change in how cattlemen and women manage their water systems.
Seth and Brooke are the founders of Cattle Kettle. This startup company builds technology that helps ranchers detect when water systems are down, windmills are broken and even when cattle have fevers. The founders have the goal of saving time for the rancher so they can spend more time with their families and doing what they love!
This team is excited to be in the beef industry and chose to be in this industry because of the people that it is comprised of. They say, “The people are all genuine, kind, humble, and hardworking people. Even if you’ve never met someone before, they make you feel at home when you are talking to them.” This is even one of Brooke’s favorite memories in the beef industry. She was working with a local rancher from her hometown and even though she had moved away 6 years ago, they were still eager to help and offer honest feedback. In fact, this rancher was honest enough to tell the team where their assumption was wrong, invite them out to a branding to be immersed in an environment with other ranchers and help them shift their model and business direction.
Like all young successful individuals, this team has some mentors to thank. The 3 main mentors that have helped them with this venture are Andrew Uden, Matt Foley and Ben Williamson. They appreciate Andrew’s insight on ranching and ag technology, Matt’s support through The Combine and helping freshmen work towards a lofty goal and Ben’s assistance around navigating the legal aspects of the business.
Overall, Seth and Brooke are excited to work in the beef industry. The dynamic duo says, “Our vision is to improve the way ranches operate in the United States. From eliminating the burden of chopping ice in the winters to detecting pink eye before it spreads to the herd, we strive to solve problems through simple technology and good people.”
Let’s celebrate Seth, Brooke and the future of Cattle Kettle!
