It’s Up to YOU
It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting. – Paulo Coelho
This quote hits me in a couple of different ways. First of all, I agree. Aspiring and hoping that dream comes true makes life exciting. It gives you something to work for. However, I also disagree. I am a believer that we are in full control of our dreams and if we achieve them. If we truly want something, we will do what it takes to get there.
I talk a lot about goal setting, action plans and all of the logistics that go into achieving dreams but today I want to take a step back. I’d invite you to take a moment and live in that possibility and vision of the dream you are chasing.
What’s your dream. I mean it. Think about what your true dream is. Close your eyes and ask yourself if money and what other people thought of you weren’t factors, what would you be doing?
Where would you go?
Who would you be with?
Soak ALL of that in.
Now tell me how you feel.
I feel joyful, peaceful and excited about life…and honestly want to do what it takes to get there.
Working to take this business full-time before I graduate has been quite the challenge but I know in my heart that it’s a part of my dream. The other part of my dream is to be hands-on, working on our family ranch again and to be able to pass that legacy down to my future family too. That’s in the works too. The thought of this dream coming true is exciting. The process of making them happen is tough some days, but rewarding and empowering every day.
Do you want to do whatever it takes to get there?
I believe the number one thing that holds many of us back is ourselves. Yes, time and money are always constraints. But if you truly want something, you’ll figure out a way to get it. I have to get out of my own way a lot and that’s okay as long as I recognize that I’m my own roadblock and make the switch.
Let today be your midweek reminder to go for it. Forget what others say. Forget what others do. Live the life you want and deserve and do whatever it takes to get there. You should never settle.
