Build what Matters Most

BUILD. That’s my word for 2022 and whether it’s your word or not, it’s an important one for you too!

It’s now the 25th of January and so far I am still committed to and exhibiting this word. What do I mean by being committed to build? Well, I am building up all aspects of my life. I am building up my relationships with the Lord, friends, family and other loved ones. I am building up my knowledge and experience in the beef industry to benefit not only my own family’s operation but also yours. I am building up my business to have a greater impact on my audience. So, to me there are a lot of ways I am exhibiting the word build. 

Why build? It’s important for any rancher. Everyday as ranchers we are making changes and improvements to build better operations that will withstand generational transitions and tough times. Outside of the ranch, you are building families, friends and communities. You are building your own life and legacy in addition to whatever legacy those before you left to carry on. Ranchers are always building. 

My challenge to you is to build what matters most in your life. Ask yourself what you are building today and how if it serves your future goals. What’s your dream life look like? Does it involve only ranching or another job too? Does it mean retiring and traveling? The answer and result are up to you and however you decide to BUILD in 2022 and the years to come. 

So with that, let’s not shy away from these questions and take a few short moments to embrace our dreams and decide what we need to build to live out the lifestyles we want.
